The Hitachi DS-6SS Speed limiting wheel is the core component of the overspeed limiter. It drives the steel rope in sync with the elevator car through friction, continuously monitoring the elevator's speed. If the elevator exceeds the safe speed (such as during free fall or abnormal acceleration), the overspeed wheel triggers mechanical locking, activating the safety clamp to emergency brake the elevator car and prevent falling accidents.
